Effuduase/Asokore MP apologizes to Speaker

The Member of Parliament for Effiduase Asokore, Frank Boakye Agyen, has apologised unreservedly to the Speaker of Parliament Edward Doe Adjaho for suggesting that he was corrupt.

The MP moments after the an emergency sitting last month over the acquisition of Merchant Bank by Fortiz, disclosed to Joy News that the Speaker was bias and ruled against a Minority’s call for a probe into Merchant Bank’s sale.

His claim was greeted with a ground swell of uproar from MPs on the majority side who thought the allegation was baseless and should be condemned.

In January 2014 after the House reconvened, the Speaker voiced his resentment about the claims and referred the matter to Parliament’s Privileges Committee.

But, the Leadership of the Parliament appealed for mercy and pleaded with the Speaker to allow the Leadership to handle the matter, which Rt. Hon.Doe Adjaho agreed following which they were given an ultimatum of two weeks to come out with their investigations into the matter.

However information gathered on Tuesday that Mr Frank Boakye Agyen apologised to the Speaker of the House and pleaded for mercy.

The Speaker accepted his apology in good faith.
