Ghana-China relations would continue to blossom---Chairman

Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Frank Annor Dompreh has said the bilateral relations between Ghana and China would continue to grow strong and blossom from generation to generation.
According to the chairman of the committee it is his prayer that the good Lord would bind the cords between both countries that cannot be broken by anyone.

He recounted that China has assisted Ghana with forty-three point five million dollars ($43.5m) between 1964 and1970 and wrote off twenty-five million dollars.

“Indeed China has proven to Ghana that it is not a nation that puts others down and pulls itself up but rather, it is a nation that wishes to go up on an equal tangent with every other nation regardless of the strength of the nation it is helping”, he said.

Again China Export and Import Bank (Exim Bank) provided a grant of six hundred and twenty-two million dollars ($622m) for the construction of Bui Hydro-electricity dam and receive one hundred and twenty-seven million dollars ($127m) interest free loan for the construction of Ofankor-Nsawam road.

In a statement on the floor of the House, he indicated that as at the end of 2014, Ghana’s exports to China soar to one point eight-five million dollars ($1.85m) a percentage increase of 41 percent.

As at the end of last year, the trade volume had reached $6.68 billion from $5.6 billion.

Ghana has positioned itself to be one of the most attractive countries in the African Sub-region, for nations to consider it worthy of trust and association and emphasised that Ghana has entered into bilateral relations that had benefited it.
