Let us inculcate ideals Kofi Annan stood for in educational curriculum---Annoh-Dompreh

Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Frank Annoh-Dompreh is advocating for the inculcation of the ideals the late former United Nations (UN) Secretary General Kofi Annan stood for in our educational curriculum.

According to the Nsawam-Adoagyiri legislator the nation should start teaching what Kofi Annan stood for, "he personify peace his demeanor reminds me of the history and  posture of Ghandi had adopted some years back".

Ghana is seen as an oasis of peace in the sub-region and even beyond the frontiers of the sub-region, Ghana is seen as peaceful I think we need to make a lot of capital gains out of that in a relative term, the MP stated.

“We are seen as a peaceful country Kofi Annan stood for non-violence approach in terms of conflict resolution,  we may have to build a centre of peace even as there is a Kofi Annan centre,  which teaches conflict resolution we need to  go beyond  monument”, he said.

In an interview he noted the call by the Minority for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration be named after late Kofi Annan is well placed.

“I am not so much about monument, I am thinking of how we can leave his ideals what he stood for in a very long time in generations to come that is how I am looking at it”

He was quick to place on record that from the grapevine, government is putting down a plan to do something significant and monumental which is not only the three days funeral and burial gesture.

"If we are able to do that, we would have celebrated him largely, if we look at what the South Africans did relative Mandela we can also do same or more with hand sight, it has taken such a long time for us to produce such a personality we have to cash in on his personality, what he has done at the world stage to project the name of Ghana and   the name of Africa as a whole".
